A volumetric pixel or voxel is a 3D pixel able to store colorimetric information together with spatial coordinates. One may also find other information, such as temperature, type of material, voxel speed.

All these properties make it a unique tool for environmental 3D modeling as needed for roCFD computation. In fact the different faces of the voxel allow for a precise and exhaustive computation of all the possible reflections and interactions with a moving fluid.

As all the CAO software are based on space triangulation, HG_Grid is using voxels approach to describe the real space. Thanks to this technology, it is now possible to calculate the volume of a space taking into account right angles, obstacles, etc.
